Root Canal
A ROOT CANAL SAVES TEETH THAT ARE DAMAGED FROM DECAY, DISEASE OR INJURY.
If a tooth’s nerve becomes infected or inflamed, a root canal or tooth extraction may be necessary. Symptoms may include pain, sensitivity, discolouration and swelling in the gums. If this persists, root canals in the infected tooth must be treated to avoid further infection to the bone surrounding the root.
Oatlands Dental will begin this procedure by assessing whether root canal therapy or tooth extraction is more suitable. If root canal therapy can save the tooth, anaesthesia is used to numb the area before opening a cavity, removing the nerve, and applying anti-inflammatory medication. We will utilise the latest technology over multiple appointments to ensure that the tooth and cavity remain infection-free. Once the canals are refilled, a final restoration or crown is placed on the tooth.
